Activity:
- Made changes to the one-page design (Project A) based on feedback
Notes:
I asked a friend for feedback, these are his points:
- MedKit: Missing description – does it restore 1 or all health points?
- Speed in melee: What does "speed" mean for melee weapons? For ranged weapons, I assume it’s projectile speed.
- Boss fight: Maybe I missed it, but is there a boss somewhere?
- View distance: Would prefer it in specific units; the current value is unclear.
- Moving platforms: Do they move back and forth continuously or just once and then stop?
- Arrows for movement direction: Some arrows indicate movement back and forth, but others are missing or unclear.
- Dialogue issue: Character takes a key and needs to find three more, but I only see two on the map.
- Checkpoint activation: Does it activate only once, or is the last touched checkpoint the active one?
Getting some feedback on my work was very nice. We don't do this often in other classes (if ever), so it was a new experience. My takeaway from this is that even the best designers wouldn't be able to progress in their designs without external input, because when someone spends a lot of time on their design, they can’t see it with fresh eyes.
The changes to my design based on this feedback were straightforward and quick. This was because making changes is (often) easier than starting from scratch, and I now knew my way around Affinity Designer.

- Making changes to the document: 45 minutes
- Further learning about Affinity Designer: 15 minutes
Outcome:
- Improved One-page level design based on feedback
